How happy would the residents at your home be with the opportunity of making their own trinket box or pot from soft easily manageable white clay? Pottery is a relaxing and wonderful therapy for all, despite any ailments. We come to you with all the materials, equipment and inspiration needed to make a beautiful small sculpture. We spend an hour or so having fun, chatting, making friends and of course being creative with the clay. White clay is used for this activity keeping the hands and clothes clean.
Purple Potters run workshops alongside the activity organisers who have completed an activity leader programme which employs coaching, action learning and creative techniques to create more meaningful activities and will support the residents to get as much as they can from the programme and the equipment available.
After everyone is happy with their work the table cloths are rolled and all masterpieces are taken back to the pottery to be kiln fired. A further workshop can then be booked for residents to paint and glaze their work! Individually wrapped works of art will be delivered two weeks later. If preferred we can offer a service which provides in house glazing on potters work. Feedback from this activity has been extremely positive and with so many happy potters at Care homes throughout Hertfordshire this is proving to be the most popular! Purple Potters have now expanded and are working throughout the Home Counties, North London and North Cornwall.
The elderly, especially gain so much from the pottery sessions. Handmade Pottery is a wonderful activity for all residents to enjoy. Help and support is offered to those that need it whilst allowing those who are able; to find confidence and work independently. The activity is unique and with a product hand made by themselves, to give to loved ones or to display in thier rooms will allow your Care home to stand above most who can only offer a standard activity session without an everlasting result of an amazing piece of artwork.
We at the pottery find working within the care environment the most rewarding of all the Purple Potter workshops and visiting care homes with the mobile pottery is, for us, a privilege. The sessions are so relaxing and therapeutic with the end results full of positivity. Each month a new theme is introduced and we are presently working on a page where co-ordinators will soon be able to choose what to make at their particular home. Remember to book soon for items to be sold at your Summer/Christmas fetes - Sunflowers and Snowmen were so popular last year all homes sold out within the course of the fete.
The complete cost for each workshop is just £80!
